Those numbers are amazing - I would have never guessed that 82% came from individuals! Your points make a lot of sense - establishing a relationship and research being the first good steps. I am wondering - do individuals tend to give repeatedly to the same source?

Upon reading the article, it makes a nice point of how to raise money for a specific purpose. It is important that you market you organization well to help make the donors, corporations and individuals notice you and your cause.

In that way they are more inclined to help you out and give you the funding that you need.

I really like this article. Its so true that people give money to people with causes, not causes themselves. If you are trying to raise money in the form of major gifts, there can't be too much said for establishing good relationships with people. Sometimes a major gift comes from somewhere unexpected.

What a wonderful outcome.

To have Philanthropy recognised for it's immense value to our communities is a great step.

Indiana University should be very proud of it's achievement in this very important social sphere.

I'm from Australia and I wonder if Indiana Uni has any plans to export and disseminate info so that other uni's around the world can get in on the act?
