New Form 990 Information

Hello, nonprofit fundraisers. I thought it would be worthwhile to post some information on the new Form 990. Tax-exempt organizations will have to use the updated version for the 2008 filing year.

The IRS announced the new form last June and released a draft for public comment. They have since updated the form (as of Dec. 2007) and have it available on the Web.

Here is information about the new form directly from the IRS Web site.

It’s never too early to brush up on your tax-filing skills— so, why not a whole year ahead of time? Beginning to understand the form now will likely save you a headache next April.

Luckily, the Council on FoundationsCouncil on Foundations is holding a Webinar called, Are You Ready for the New Form 990? It will be held on June 26 from 2pm-3:30pm Eastern Time. For more information on cost and how to register, check out the COF site.

Happy filing!
